Only At The Fair

Things seem to stop around here when it is Fair Time.  It cannot get any better than the Iowa State Fair!  The food, livestock, historic buildings, traditions and more.  I wanted to showcase some of the beauty from the one and only Fair.

Beautiful Monarch from the Butterfly Garden!

It was the 100th Anniversary of the Butter Cow at the Iowa State Fair.  There were over 100 decorated cows displayed around the fairgrounds.  Of course, this was my favorite because they repurposed junk into something that I wish was for sale.  It would look great in my garden!

The Agriculture Building is one of my favorite buildings.  I love it when they showcase the floral competitions.

I would have shown you the various food we grazed on during the several days we were there but that would have only made you hungry.  So if you have not made it to the Iowa State Fair I would recommend you make plans to visit in 2012.  Now since the Fair season is over it is time to get back to repurposing my finds for the upcoming Fall shows.

Almost Here!

The cover has been revealed and the magazine is almost ready for the stores.  I am already in love with the cover.  Take a look at the suitcases on the wall!  AWESOME!!  I need to get mine ordered so it arrives in my mailbox.  I just devour this magazine when it arrives.

Hwy. 141 Sale

I had a fantastic time junkin' on the Hwy. 141 today.  I went to more than 75 garage sales and scored a carload of great stuff.  I did not think there were as many sales today as there has been in the past.  Some of my annual favorites were not open today but I still had great success in finding great stuff.

I love pickin' in barns.  I was able to get a few old windows just by asking :)!

I just had to take a picture of the this chicken coop and the meat/grocery store below.  I would have loved either one of these for a small store and maybe someday I just might have one.  Just too bad they are not closer to the city!

This windmill is made from golf clubs. Great way to repurpose old golf clubs!

Here is what the back end of my car looked like when I got home tonight.  Love it!
