Junk Club Dinner

I had a Girl's Night Out with my girlfriends at Rescued Junk by Old Crow Farm.  We had a wonderful time at their monthly Junk Club event.  We were served a delicious meal and had a great time making a necklace that we got to take home.  The girls all loved the necklace!

As soon as I saw the store I started to get Junk Drunk.  I just loved the exposed brick walls, displays and all of the fantastic items for sale.

They are having an upcoming sale on February 12 & 13 that you need to check out.  If you love great junk this is the place to go.  Check out their website and blog for more information.

Thank you Jojo for a great time!

Flea Market Finds

I scored a few flea market finds this week.  When I saw the sign "Flea Market" then I just had to stop.  As many of you know we (junkers) are a determined bunch to find that great find!

I just love the green color in the interior of the suitcase.

Tried And True Organization

We all love the Container Store, but sometimes the best solutions for storing your stuff is the tried and true. From old crates to apothecary jars to salvaged metal lockers, there's plenty of options out there to help keep you organized.

Friday Favorites

I normally post my favorite vintage finds for "Friday Favorites" but I am changing it up a little.

Trader Joe's just landed in Des Moines, IA a couple of months ago and I have enjoyed the Charles Shaw Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot wines they carry.  You cannot beat the price of $2.99!  I will be drinking a little of that when I watch the big playoff football game of the Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers.  Go Bears!

While I am watching the Bears play I will be sitting in my lovely couch enjoying my numbered pillows that I picked up at JB Knackers in Gilbert, IA.

I am looking forward to making some warm chocolate chip cookies this weekend for the kiddos.  A family favorite!HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Over 25 Followers Giveaway

I made my first goal of this blog and that was to have over 25 followers.  I know that number might seem small but it does take some work for people to follow you.  I am looking forward to having 100 followers someday and I hope to be there soon but in the meantime I want to celebrate this milestone.

To celebrate in accomplishing my goal I want to give away one of my vintage rings that I made.  The ring is adjustable and will look great on your finger when you are out on the town.

Here's what you gotta do to get your name in:

1. Leave a comment on this post.

2. For a second entry, become a follower of my blog. (leave me a separate comment telling me you did.)

3. For a third entry, spread the love and blog about my giveaway! (leave me a separate comment letting me know you did!)

Giveaway will close at 6PM (central time zone) on Friday, January 21. Winner will be announced that evening!

Summer At Tiffany

When I have a little time to read (which isn't much since I am a stay at home mom to a 5 year old and 23 month old) I try to read a chapter or two from a great book.  Who would not want to pick up a book up with "Tiffany's" in the title?

I would like to imagine me reading a book on this with a wonderful white cozy blanket.  However, I am usually laying in bed at 11pm reading a chapter.

I have to say this was one of those books that I wanted to pick up during every spare moment. It is a true story about a young lady, Marjorie Hart (who is also the author), and her best friend, Marty Garrett’s, summer that they spent away from Iowa to experience New York City where they landed jobs at Tiffany & Co. The story takes place in 1945 and is the next best thing to a time machine for those of us who are captivated by that era and all things Tiffany & Co.

I have to admit that I have never been in a Tiffany's store but I hope to someday and maybe take something home like Marjorie.

Vintage Material

My mother was organizing her basement and she found this box full of goodies.  Of course, I just love the vintage Christmas patterned shirt box.

My great-grandmother had cut up all of this material to use for quilting as well as to decorate her tea towels.

We had so much fun sorting through the material and now my mom is making quilt squares to frame in a shadow box.

Oh, how I love vintage material!
