Christmas At The Barn

Howell's Christmas Tree Farm is a great place to go to take in the fresh country air and also to enjoy their wonderful gift shop in the barn.

They have transformed part of the interior to a year-round gift shop.  I found a few vintage inspired Christmas ornaments.

The 2nd floor in the barn is where they dry all of their flowers for floral arranging and for customers to buy.  A phenomenal site!

Oh the joy their Christmas trees bring to so many families!

Market Day

We had a fantastic time at Market Day in Des Moines.  http://www.marketdayiowa.com/

Market Day is where you can find fabulous handmade items by local artists.  Anything from jewelry, hand sewn IPOD covers, handmade skirts to iconic photography can be found at this once a month event.

I bought a very cute skirt for my daughter made out of different colored sweaters.  Very reasonable find at Market Day for such a cute item!   http://www.handmadepretties.com/

Barn House Giveaway

One of the blogs that I follow, Barn House, is offering a fantastic giveway. Please check out their site: http://www.barnhousebh.com/2010/11/bh-market-sneak-peek-and-300-giveaway.html.

Who couldn't use a $100 gift certificate to shop for vintage items!

A Little Bit Of Art

Leaded glass windows have so much charm and character. I consider them a piece of art. I plan on taking down one of my pictures in my living room and hanging up this heavy window. Not sure how I am going to hang it but with Mr. H's help I know we can get it done.

I found this window at Found Things On Douglas. This is a fantastic consignment store that turns inventory over on a daily basis. Many women were shopping when I was in there. You can find vintage, new and used items in this store for sale at great prices.

Jewelry Ready For Show

I am so excited how these necklaces turned out. The necklaces feature a vintage key and a vintage scrabble tile on a silver beaded chain. Cute salvage items and so hip!

What Are You Putting On Your Thanksgiving Table?

I have some gourds and small pumpkins left over and decided to put them in a galvanized tool caddy. This will look perfect in the middle of the table with a few white candles around it. It is low so people can talk over it as well as pass around the Thanksgiving goodies.

Etsy Store

I finally opened an account on Etsy and now I just need to list my necklaces on there. I am hoping to have a few of them listed this weekend. I do have a few vintage items listed in my Ebay Store.

Great Find!

These items are not vintage but you cannot beat the price for the vintage salvage look. I bought a set of these great mugs at Michaels's for only $1 each.

My Line Of Jewelry

I have been rummaging for several years and I have found so many cute little small things that I now see people use to make jewelry with. Of course, I love the style of using something recycled, vintage and funky. I had to try to make a few necklaces for myself and then of course I got hooked. Here is the first necklace that I made and I am keeping this for myself since it was my first born.

My funky and fun necklaces will be available soon on Etsy. I will let you know as soon as my items are listed.

Salvage "H"

I purchased this salvage "H" from the What Cheer Flea Market this fall. This metal letter came from a movie theater in Chicago. I was thrilled to find it in its natural state of chipped paint and original hardware. I cleaned it up several times and now it sits on my dining room buffet. I typically sell these kind of items on Ebay but I just had to keep this for myself. I had found out earlier that a salvage company in town bought 50 of these to sell and they were selling them for $200.

What a find!
